INTERFACE | METAVERSE - EXPERIMENT IN ART, DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY
The workshop will explore the term interface from the perspective of art, digital media technologies and experimentation. The interface is commonly understood as the interface between a user and a device. A book, a game arrangement, a mirror or a character can be described as an interface in an extended sense. The remote control, the computer mouse and the keyboard are among the first and still common technical interfaces. Touch screens, mobile devices (mobile phone, tablet computer), voice control devices (Amazon Alexa, Google Smart Home, Apple Home Kit), Arduino/Raspberry PI, virtual reality headsets and augmented reality devices are current possibilities that connect and relate us to the digital world.
The workshop topic "Interface | Metaverse - Experiment in Art, Design & Technology" will be explored
- from the perspective of digital media technologies: Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Arduino/Raspberry PI, 3D Printing, Hard- and Software - Tooling, Circuit Bending, AR/VR.
- from the perspective of digital arts and experimentation: Installation, Interaction, Sound, Sculpture/Object, Space-Time Stage, Speech and Performance - Motion Capture & Tracking, AR/VR.
- from the perspective of product and graphic design: Design process (scribble, sketch, drawing), layout and poster, animation (2D/3D), storytelling - AR/VR.
Furthermore, questions of meaning, aesthetics, usability, social integration, impact and accessibility of the "Interface | Metaverse" will be reflected and integrated into the project implementation process.
Costs and Practical Matters
For the physical stay at St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences, students have to cover traveling, accommodation, board and any other costs by themselves.
Students will pay € 20.70 Austrian Student Union fee (= ÖH-Beitrag) in cash at their arrival at St. Pölten UAS. This will provide them with personal accident and liability insurance via the ÖH during their stay in Austria.
Please ask the International Office at your home institution for any further information about funding.
