Telehealth in Dietetics

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a significant strain on medical institutions, which has promoted the widespread adoption of telehealth. Telehealth is a term that can refer to clinical as well as non-clinical services. It is applied to the use of electronic information and telecommunications technologies to cover multiple health consultation activities – health monitoring and services, public health and health administration activities, and health education for patients and professionals. Telehealth tools include video conferencing, email, mobile or app-enabled technology, and technologies that transmit clinical information (data, images, audio, and video).

The online part will take place over 5 weeks and the students will learn about guidelines, legal requirements for telehealth, and data protection in general. The students will acquire knowledge about national/international projects where telehealth has already been implemented. Besides, they will learn how telehealth can be integrated into dietetic care.

During the one week of physical attendance, the students will develop prototypes which they will present to a team of experts during a field trip. Further lectures, key notes, and best practice examples will enable the students to build relationships and trust in a virtual environment.
