Blended Intensive Programmes

Security Awareness

This Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) aims at IT Security, Media Technology, and Marketing & Communication students.

We will kick off with a total of 7 remote lectures that cover a wide range of topics related to IT security awareness. This includes a general introduction to the field, psychological aspects and social engineering, security controls representing technical, organizational, and human countermeasures to a wide range of threats, as well as privacy and legal aspects. In addition, external invited talks by industry and research experts will cover related European initiatives and projects, security awareness in the context of schools, and cybercrime prevention in general.

During the physical week, students will work as part of an international team of students to develop a security awareness concept or prototype (be that a game, workshop, video, or learning platform) targeted at high school students and their (grand-)parents. Armed with practical insight into human-centred design through an on-site workshop, students will be enabled to talk to their clientele, assess their needs, and pitch their own ideas.

A varied social programme (excursion, field trip, student party) will round off the experience and give participants plenty of opportunity to have fun and get to know their peers.
